itermittent errors are still indicative that its a problem with the hardware itself. In NZK's case, it seems like it just simply "failed" and never worked at all.

mouse disconnects and is never able to reconnect

Could my problem be the M$ mouse drivers conflicting with the MadCatz drivers for the R.A.T.7? I mean, the HID Compliant USB Input driver should have automatically disabled itself upon installation of the manufacturers driver, or so one would think.

New wrinkle
Upon restart this morning, RAT7 wasn't working again. Appears windows reinstalled all the HID compliance drivers again.
Instead of deleting each instance, chose to just disable them, leaving the devices as "installed"
Hopefully this fixes it.
