Right, well I'm a moderator for a certain forum, and this guy didn't seem to agree with ours rules and I banned him. So he decides to email me about it saying he's going to do all this ****. Blah blah blah. But he will not let up, and I'm wondering if this guy is for real. It might be a long read, but I would HIGHLY appricate you reading this. Thank you.

First email:

"Let me explain something to you. I dident spend 6 years in prison because I was bad at hacking, it was because I was turned in by my understudy. But your little ban for spamming... ha ha ha. you wan't to see spamming. I'll ****in show you way more than spamming. maybe i'll pop on the site and grab some ip's and run them and get some real names, address's and phone numbers, maybe even some good old fashion ss's and post them all over the net. Hope your good. youl need to be. by the way, nobody was spamming your ****ing site. however that nonsense directed toward me has you in deep.

well gotta go run the ip this email came from stupid. Have a nice day. could be the last nice one you have for a while

~tWiStEd~

Remember your just cattle to the keyboard cowboys....."

I replied like this:

"Honestly, I all I can say to that is hah. Do you even know why you were banned? You posted that site with it. I just regarded it as spam so if you didn't want to get banned you shouldn't of posted it.

Who the hell cares if you spent 6 years in jail, whoopty friggin do. What, running low on things to do and need to pick on a 14 year old? And what are you going to do with my address and phone number exactly? Prank call me? You better have a bit of money to make an international call.

And do you know how easy it is to get an I.P? The site already has yours. So I wouldn't try anything.

Keyboard cowboy whatever to you to. (Also, learn to type right, 'Mr. Hacker person')"

So he doesn't let up and emails me AGAIN:

"Well stupid, I build sites for a living and I know the site has an IP on me. ha ha ha. do you think I'm stupid enough to let you little kids get my true IP? Think about it once your info is out youl be ****ed. First off I already pulled doc's, that means full info, on a few of you, how is it gonna feel knowing that every ******* on the net will have your info and phone number. By the way, you can't change your number now. your number may change, however your cable pair will always be the same. Unlisted numbers are obtained from the cable pair. trust me we can be very ****in mean. I don't think you understand the things that can come of this, but you may just be stupid, I don't exactly need money to make phone calls, I would just turn your phone off and put a hold on it so mommy and daddy will never have a phone again. Go ahead and think we are full of ****. When you get hit, and I do mean hard, don't email me crying like the other stupid ****s have in the past. It must suck to have bad credit at your age. I don't know how old you are nor do I care at this point. Just sit back and suffer. Hell is on the way. PS My sidekick says if another email comes from you he will hit everyone on your local phone call detail. That basicly means anyone who you call or anyone who calls you. Save the friends and family from your pain. Don't email us again.

~tWiStEd~"

So I decide to do something about this guy and I looked up his I.P and found out what internet connection he has. And emailed them about abuse. After that I looked up my own, and learnt it runs own some APNIC server. Which makes my I.P change every log in, and only gives the location of the APNIC source. Not my house or personal details:

"Hahahaha, quit bluffing, I know you're lying. Why? Because my I.P is pretty secure. It doesn't run through a single server, I log on and it finds a secure place to log on through a huge server where lots of people connect. Everytime I log on it changes, and if you typed my current I.P, you can not find where I live but can find out where the server source is. It's useless. And all along you've been saying you looked up my profile... hahaha.

But, that doesn't mean you're getting away with anything. I've reported you to your server, Roadrunner, for abuse over email. Pretending to be a hacker isn't going to go down to well. So either stop this now, or it can only get worser for you. (Yes, I looked up your I.P)

Have a nice day.

Oh, and the fact that everything you just said then doesn't make sense. There is no such thing as a 'true' I.P, otherwise if it was fake the Internet wouldn't be working for you. And I have no idea what you were talking about with that phone thing. Most stupidest thing I've heard. And say hello to your 'sidekick for me'

Toodles, 'Del lee' "

Thought I won there, till he emails me AGAIN!!!:

I'm not on roadrunner dummy. Thats mistake number 1. Let me see if you can understand this. When you connect to an IP, lets say through a dial up connection for instance, you must go through a local sub station that station gets your phone number, after that you are provided an IP, think of it as a kind of internet telephone number. Lets say for instance you logged on with AOL, and someone gets your IP. By making the correct phone calls and saying your someone your not you can easily obtain a persons personal info that was obtaind from the ip user log. hope this clears up your stupidity. By the way I have never emaild you only replied to the emails you have sent me dummy. Be good
~tWiStEd~"

What do you guys think? Is he for real? Or a total bluffer like I think he is?

:welcome: to the forums and don't worry about that shmuck!!!!

He's a freakin knob!!!!! First off, if someone is going to hack you and make you miserable, they will just do it, not tell you every little detail! He's blowing smoke. He sounds like a 14 year old to me, no offense....... :)

lol - None taken. That's what I thought. Just wanted to make sure...so YES! He really does get reported.

Yea, :welcome:
If that little person was going to hack you, they/he/it would have done so
already. Don't let him scare you. ESPECIALLY now that he knows you are
14. that dink sounds like hes trying to scare you into letting him have his
childish way.

However, this tool probably should realize that those threats are considered
a 'terrorist activity' and therefore (if he actually was in jail) will just send him
back. Also, everything can be eventually traced, no matter how well they
(meaning his cheeks :) ) think they have been covered. :)

Edit: look over the Headers of his emails, If they (teh IPs) are all the same, probably is not a hacker. or is not really smart, because that gives a point to trace from. the more email sent to you, the more caught he/they/it is :D

BTW, I thought I mentioned it is possible for him to mask his IP through proxies but I do not believe he did that throughout his life on your forum.

Furthermore, he mentioned one can just call up an ISP "saying your someone your not you can easily obtain a persons personal info" is total garbage. Though it is very easy for the ISP to obtain your personal info they will not just give it out to someone over the phone even if they say they're the president. There have been (supreme?) court cases over the issue of whether the government can subpeona (sp?) an IP and require the ISP to release the user's personal info. So in summary: unless he has a lot of time to waste or he works at your ISP he will not be hacking you up.

Also, as someone else mentioned, if he was a someone who was skilled hacking/cracking he would let his actions speak louder than his words.

Your right amazon10x, some scumbag was harassing my daughter over AIM (Some nasty *** crap) and i had to get the cops to get a bench warrant to get their personal information. They will definitely NOT give out personal info at all!!

What ghettocomp said. I wonder if this kiddie realizes that he could now be reported for something a good deal more serious than messing with one person's site; what he/it threatened could fall under the cyber crimes act in the US.

An ISP requires a court order with probable cause to release anyone's information and they will only do so to law enforcement.

I'd advise not communicating with him/it any longer and just start reporting. PM me if you want help with reading headers :)

Ah, so that's his "sidekick" :p :D

Stop emailing him. do not even reply if he emails you. you already reported him so leave it at that unless he tries to gain access to the forum again or threatens you again. Then go to the cops.

As for his way to get your info. Yes he can do it but it is quite tricky. he can either pretend to be an employee who needs the info to fix your line or he could even pretend to be you and get it out of them that way.

I think he is full of it because he would be hacking the forum first and probably is trying to. I would definitely make sure you are updated and check to see if there are any exploits that have not been fixed in an update and fiind out what you need to do to protect your forum. I would also PM silversinksam on this forum and ask for his advice. Good luck.

Depending on your Email header, you probably gave him a IP. He'd go to his favorite little chalked spot, like a couple hundred yards from a Starbucks, he'd be stupid to use his connection. From there (after all footprinting, NMAp etc) he'd break right into your OS(s).....I bet you're running all kinds of services. I don't think he'd let you know, why should he? There's so much more eavesdropping for him to do.

But he sounds so stupid, talking about shutting down phone services etc. Mostly lies. He sounds like a stupid skiddie..... so if he was goning to do something, it would be with lame bots, effective but lame and you'd know by now. All he's talking about is spamming. Forget about it, you reported his ISP abuse center, assuming you use a detailed DNS look up, you probably notified the right ISP. For now, I'd configure your OS(s) to make them secure. I'm not talking about so lame firewall or AV. Lock it down through the OS and configure your ACLs on your router etc... and you'll be alright. If someone starts to pound your perimeter notify your ISP abuse.

PS proxies don't "hide your IP", anyone with a community college level security degree would know this.

yea if they were going to hack they would of done it by now and its possible there using a proxy best way is to check there 1st post with 1/2 other posts if there is any i have to mask my ip to use some sites otherwise i cann't log on as my ip is already on a proxy used by millions!

Just send an email saying something like this
Thanks for the conversation im pretty board of this and am now ignoring your emails!
If you wish to waste your time sending emails to me go ahead there going in my junk box now and i wount bother you again because i have a life unlike you. If you want to hack the site/forum go ahead we have your ip and even if it is fake then it's our time and the servers time wasted but i have a feeling that it's not a fake ip. Anyway have fun trying to hack the site just remember to learn how to first!

Regards whoever

It's true about ISPs. In fact in Canada, with our privacy laws, it is illegal for an ISP to give out personal information to ANYONE, including the police. The only way someone's information in Canada is released from an ISP is if there is undeniable PROOF of illegal activity (hard proof, not computer proof).
Kiddy porn ON their hard drive. Of course to get proof like that, you need to know where the person lives anyway. In some ways it's good for privacy, but in other ways it's not so good (harder to catch the piles of puke distributing child porn.)

Anyway, I wouldn't worry about this guy. Like they said, you would already be seeing trouble if he was real.

I got something similar a little while back, I guy was claiming he knew all about me and that i should watch my step(only the info that google revealed when searching my e-mail, and it was false info at that).

I have had this happen a few times, and not once was any damage done. The people that are making threats like that are just to ignorant, and in most cases computer illiterate. Do you really think that if he was convicted of a computer crime that he would be allowed to even be at a computer? I knew someone a while back that got convicted from having kiddie porn on his computer, now he isn't even allowed by law to touch a keyboard. He couldn't even come over to my house because I had a computer sitting there. If I were you I wouldn't be too worried about it. If this person continues to be a problem, there is a website out there that can help you with ways to help put a stop to it. She was a hacker at one time that found out that it is a lot better to stay on the right side of the law, and mostly shows ways to just scare anyone that is getting ready to try to hack into your system. Everything she explains on her website is perfectly legal, although I do think that some of the methods she shows are kind of in a grey area. Most of what she shows are ways to find out who this person is, and report them. Her name is Carolyn Meinel (sp?) and her website is http://www.happyhacker.org
Mods if that website is against forum policies please remove it.

when you have an ip you can "Run" them, and get names, numbers and social security numbers...

i thought everyone knew that.

hes going to hack the crap out of you, watch out!!!!11oneoneoneone

Wellp, I think that guy is full of sh**. I wouldnt be concerned at all if I were you. I would have replied to all his emails like I was his best friend just to aggrivate him. He obviously emailed you just to try and pick a fight. Since you got his email, I would like spam the "ba-jesus" out of it with like pr0n and what not. Maybe send him a email inviting him to join the forums and then just ban him again as soon as he logs on. I think that would be funny. = )

What tipped me off that this was fake was the fact that they told you what they were going to do. Now, any fool with half a brain stem can tell you if you're going to screw with someone you're not going to tell them who it is and give up some of your (the hacker's) power. Second, stealing and posting someone's SS number is (if I'm not mistaken) a federal offense, so that really screamed fraud to me. Besides if the dumbass really did go to prison don't you think he'd have enough brain cells (just maybe?) to not go back to prison (in the unlikely chance that he did in the first place)? At most I'd consider him a script kiddie. Anyway that's just my $0.02.

I work for an ISP (rather large one)....

I'll just throw in my 2 cents in agreeing with what has been said. He's full of it, and we don't just release info. We have a lot of suits trying to get the info, we're still fighting them.

That, and about half the stuff he said (the agressor) is just a load of junk. Basically, it's true, but non-applicable. Sound like some kiddie who just got done reading a book on hacking. Maybe a Kevin Mitnick book. He likely just read some fun hacking tales, and thinks he's all that.

And also, just to note, even me, inside the ISP, with my resources, would not even be able to do half the stuff he is talking about. I know I could pull your personal info from your IP addy (if you were on our network), but it would be a process, and would be logged to our admins when I pull it, so I wouldn't be able to do much with it. So just rest easy, even I can't get at ya.
