You COULD always get a GTX 780 (3GB) now, and one later. I had originally thought that newer games (like BF4) needed a min of 3GB VRAM at 1440p, but that does not seem to be the case.
It isnt? I use 2.4-6GB at 1440p Ultra...

Also, +1 for a single card over two out of the gate. 780/780ti, AMD 290/290x are the go to cards at this time for that resolution IMO.

Okay, guys. I'm upgrading to a GTX780 no question. I just do not want SLI and the 780 really seems beastly.

Yes. I run a 780 Lightning on that res now. Pounds through games not named Crysis 3 with no problems.

I've been working on a similar build of $2200, haven't decided fully on a 1080 or 1440 monitor, but for size a 24'' seems huge to me. I think a 780 3GB would be solid for your monitor and could run anything "not named Crysis 3". Here's the link to my build if you would like to compare.

A 780 is superoverkill at 1080p. :p

I'd get that Qnix monitor linked a few posts back. It IS 27" though.
