Blower I have was (coincidentally) subject of a past thread.

http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=289957&highlight=vdc

So anyway, I have one of these bad boys from surplus center, since the Torins I want are not available anymore.

http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2004061617255473&item=16-1258&catname=electric

So anyway, I'm not very electric-savvy, so I'm having problems getting this thing to run. Here's what I'm doing so far:

Basically, I'm trying to put 24 volts through this. The website says 24 vdc is the minimun, so I should be meeting that.

What I've had the most success with is an old Dell PSU. By connecting the +12v and -12v, I can get the blower to almost full speed, but it shuts off about 3 seconds after powering up and resets.

I've tried connecting a 13.8vdc 25amp RadioShack power supply, but I can barely get it to move at all using that.

So, the question I pose is: what am I doing wrong?

Thanks for looking.

Update:

I figured it was worth a shot, so I plugged one of those cheapo $20 450W PSUs into it and it works for some reason. Will this kill the PSU? This PSU was an RMA from a previous cheapo $20 450W PSU that died after about a month of use (this particular PSU has been powering various Torins, Rotrons, etc for months with no problems).

Oh yea, and this thing is QUIET.
