I'm building a new rig to play apb:r on. It has to have a 3ghz+ cpu 4x core, nvida graphics card, 8gb of ddr3 ram. I didn't go for the ssd drive cause I did not want to risk a device failure.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119194 - case "sniper storm" by cool master

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148609 - hd seagate (I have had success with this brand)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131636 - Asus M4N98TD EVO (never tried this brand b4, but have heard good things in the past.)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121446 - GeForce GTX 560 (Just going with 1 video card for now I don't play a high res. so no need for 2 cards)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102019 - Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty (the cheap one is outa stock so might as well get this one :) )

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817194054 - ENERMAX PRO87+ EPG600AWT 600W 80 PLUS GOLD Certified (another brand I've has success with)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231460 - G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) (Looking at the memory specs certified for use with the motherboard this was the closest I seen in model##'s I could find even though its not an exact match)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103808 - AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz (best bang for my buck imo)

Any advice or known problems I want to avoid with this setup?? My main concern is the ram working with the motherboard.

Thanks in advanced for any advice given

Drop the sound card. If you want reliability, get the Crucial M4. Typically, SSD DOA rates are NOTHING compared to HDDs. What's more reliable, flash memory or a spinning, moving disk?

If you want a really high quality PSU, get a Seasonic Gold, I think there's a 650W version. But honestly, a Corsair 600CX is a fraction of the cost and will run your system flawless.

I'd get this motherboard, it supports AMD's next CPU series that should be out anyday now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128514

Lastly, I'd try to upgrade to a 560Ti, it's better price/performance then a normal 560. Also, you picked a triple-slot card, but that shouldn't be an issue if you don't plan on going dual cards.

What's your total budget? Do you need an OS included?

my budget is about $1200 but can go over a little.

I took your advice on the mobo, graphics card, and ssd. I droped the sound card and going to try the on board sound for now.

The OS I plan to go with is the win7 home 64-bit OEM ( apb:r is supposed to play better and look better on a 64-bit OS)

Items changed:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128514 - mobo GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121425 - GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148442 - Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2 2.5" 128GB SATA III (I wanted to get ssd in the first place but some of the reviews I seen scared me, but I'm going with this as soon as it gets in stock :) )

All together it'll be aprox. $1,250 so just $50 over budget.

Good choice on the M4 drive. You'll find that the overall computing experience is faster with SSD. I know I'd never go back.

I have the same CPU and RAM in one of my system. No problem there. The 955 OC is an easy OCer. Make sure you get a decent CPU cooler. The Coolermaster Hyper 212+ comes highly recommended for the price. I got a Scythe Mugen 2 which is a better cooler and was only $5 more when I put my system together.

That Enermax PSU is a good one.

I plan on using my old heat sink "ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro" its rated up to 130w and AM3 compatible. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185125

If you have 1200 bucks, either build an 1155 Intel rig, or wait for Bulldozer later this month. Buying a 955, or even an 1100T on your budget is silly.

SSDs have proven themselves vastly more reliable than HDDs. You can buy an SSD and HDD now, perform the same number of writes to both, and I guarantee you the HDD will be dead in 4 years of heavy use while the SSD will glide into the next decade with average usage.
