j/w what 120 gig hd are you getting for 100 bucks?

edit: and also why are you getting 2x256 and 1x512, why not 2x512? one would think having only 2 slots filled would be better than 3

its retail.. everything is except for floppy.

not sure about hdd yet, either maxtor or wd.

2x256 + 1x512 is cheaper then 2x512 by about $17

WD SE 8mb cache are very good hdd's

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?description=22-144-118

167 dollars for the 120 gig

and im not so sure about the temps on a 2600 on stock cooling.. may want to invest in something better

also does he really NEED 1 gig of ram? hell NEVER use that much seeing how much he knows about computers.. you could cut off about 160 bucks or so or however much it costs for 512.

really the only thing you would need 1 gig for is large image editing or a server

get everything from the same place...get one box...instead of 10...its just so much easier...get it from newegg

oh, and id get 2 sticks of 512mb ram, that would be cheaper than 2 256's and 1 512...not to mention that would hinder performance...since the ship density is alot different

well he doesnt really even need 1 gig, 1x512 will do just fine.. 1 gig for this guy would be a waste of money

ranger joe, 2x512 is 17 more expensive then 2x256 1x512. go to www.crucial.com and select pc2700 ram and see for your self.

the current price is here..

512MB $176.99 +15 % off = $150.44
256MB $78.99 +15 % off = $67.14
128MB $46.99 +15 % off = $9.94

and it won't effect performance much :)

If you going to spend $100 on the motherboard,
why don't you use the NForce2 motherboard? Better Audio, Better memory performance and if you use 2 stick of RAM... then you can take advantage of Dual Channel DDR.

US$102 @ mwave.com

well ill be. im thinking in terms of corsair...
and you would be suprised...i did it once, with two 128's and a 256...and its so much slower than 2 256's..and 1 512 is even faster on my board.

i agree, you shouold buy an audigy if he wants eax hd in games. And i insist, get an asus a7n8x instead of that mobo, kt400 chipset is BAD. and i also insist in the video card, get a radeon9500PRO, it powns the gf4 4600 and drivers are now good, it will be even $20 cheaper!!!

for those of u that think the 9500pro is better then the 4600 thg has the benchmarks and 4600 beat 9500 in all the benchmarks.

benchmarks

Do not trust thg benchmarks sometimes

Anatech http://www.anandtech.com/index.html shows 9500pro perform better than GF4 Ti4600

The onboard sound on NForce 2 Sound Storm Support both EAX 1.0 and EAX 2.0. The onboard sound uses much less resource/cpu cycle compare to Audigy 1 OEM. And best of all... many Audigy 1 Owner reports that the onboard sound has better sound quality than Audigy 1 card.

If hc000 is not going to do any sound studio digital editing. but just playing game and listen to MP3. I see no point for an Audigy 1

well i just checked the benchmarks @ anandtech and 4600 still beats 9500pro... and we decided to use kt4 ultra on board sound :)
