I'm looking at a new Folding build. Folding is similar to coin mining in that GPUs do the work. Folding is different than coin mining in that you need a lot of bandwidth to each GPU. I'm looking for a motherboard that can hold at least 3 GPUs at no less than PCIe x8. In my first round of shopping, I found that AMD is a far cheaper way for me to go for the amount of PCIe lanes I'm looking for.
Right now I'm looking at the ASRock X399 Taichi as a serious candidate. I can run up to four GPUs 16x 8x 16x 8x PCIe 3.0. That's a lot of bandwidth. However, 16x 16x 8x would work for me too with only three GPUs.
