Hello,

I am currently using AMD, was hoping to go with Intel Core 2 Duo but I am unsure of which board would suite my needs. I have $800 to spend on a complete rig (excluding keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, dvd drive)

I am opting for no OCing.
Want DDR2 800+
pciE x16 vid card
onboard sound
100-180 vid card

but the biggest thing is going to be i am going to want to upgrade, not a complete budget board.
My current choice was:
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813128012
Is this extra from what i need or should i get a different socket (currently: 775) - Is there some other socket thats better to invest in?

Thanks!

Eric

Get the Gigabyte P35 DS3R , AFAIK It isn't much more expensive and supports 1333MHz FSB chips.

Is there any place where I can find the differences between the

GIGABYTE GA-P35C-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard
The P35C supports DDR3 1066? (Only difference?)

and on a side note (not to spam new threads)

Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 Conroe 1.86GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor $165
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe 1.86GHz 2M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor $164

Anyone know where I can find more information on the 4M vs 2M shared L2 Cache? (I assume that the 4M is a better investment, for only +$1?)

the p35c-ds3r and p35-ds3r are identical boards, save for the ddr3 support, which shouldn't be much of a concern unless you are a very early adopter. the E6320 is also a much better buy, since there are no differences between them besides for the L2 cache size. they've got the same FSB and multiplier (therefore the same clock speed), near identical thermal specs, and should put out similar amounts of heat

Is there any place where I can read up on L2 4mb vs 2mb shared? (Hate to ask so many questions, would rather be pointed in the direction of reviews, etc, so I myself, could answer questions .. one day)
