Hello. I’m new to the forum and this will be my first build comp. It will be used primary for gaming and some picture editing with CS5.
Just wanted to find out what you guys think about my setup and if anything is way off. I know the GPU is not the best but I think I can use it a little longer unless you think it will really be a bottleneck for my setup.

:welcome: To the Overclockers forums!

I would swap out the ASUS board for an ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 for starters.

What kind of budget are your working with?

Are you in the USA?

Do you live near a Microcenter outlet store?

Plan on overclocking?

Is this build to be considered for incremental upgrades or keep as is for a long time?

These questions will help members here better assist your needs, and thanks for taking the time to answer them.

Here are the answers you might need.

What are you planning to do with this compuer? Gaming and photoedit CS5

What is your budget? $1200

Does this include a copy of Windows? No

Does this include peripheals (a keyboard, monitor, mouse, speakers, etc.)? No

Are you from the United States or a different country? USA

If you are from the United States, do you live nearby a Microcenter? not sure

Do you have any specific requests with the build? Future upgradebility

Do you plan on overclocking? Yes as much with air cool as possible

Would you prefer the build to be particularly small? NO

Would you prefer the build to be particularly quiet? NO

In general, do you prefer this to be a computer that you can spend money on now and let it rest, or a box built for continuous upgrading? Continues upgrading

Do you ever plan on utilizing NVIDIA's SLI or AMD's CrossfireX technologies? Most likely

Your GPU will really be a bottleneck for gaming, but it shouldn't be that bad for Photoshop, up to you whether you want to change it or not. It will fit in your budget just fine. I went for an i7 and 16GB of RAM for better CS5 performance. Also, stick to NVIDIA since you're using CS5.

Thanks!
As this will be my first build I will just go for Air cooling.
Any reasons against the Asus MB?
Also I don’t see a difference between the MEM I choose and the one you swap it out with?
The PSU I choose is something wrong with it?

Thanks again just need clarification on why the swaps.

The water cooling suggested, is no harder to install than the NH-D14.......It's a sealed unit, not nearly as complicated as scratch built water cooling.

Motherboard choice is based on value for your dollar....

8Gb kit vs 16Gb kit.....

850Watt overkill.....

:welcome: to the forums

I like knu's build as he managed to shoehorn a 3770K in there. Knu builds and gets combo's and deals for the best bang for your buck. Nothing wrong with PoleP's build, but there is more for the money with the 3770K for your uses.

Yeah he's much better at shopping than I am and putting the best deals together.
I just thought I'd try to help since he wasn't around or give the OP something to think about till he did come around.
