For the first time since the opteron was big aswell as the ultra-d, ive managed to save enough money to buy myself what i hope will be a good system, (well good enough to run all the latest games, encode, create music etc. It was horrible having to choose between SOOOOOOO many motherboards, with the cpu it was simple q6600, with the graphics card, it was fairly simple, 8800gtx, until the gt came out and that was a no brainer. The watercooling components werent too hard, the memory was a really tough one, i even ended up putting the mem i originally bought, on ebay. Then buying 4x1gb of ballistix. The worst one was finding a waterblock for the 8800gt, i had the mcw60, but to use that i would have had to use ramsinks and the current ones available just seem crap to be honest, the thermal pads i cant see doing a lot, and my only other option was iandh's custom ramsinks, but he took too long to reply to me and then as if by magic i discovered aqua-computer.de's 8800gt full block, it looks amazing, apparently it will perform amazing, well at least it covers the ram hehe. I decided on shin etsu's tim, as thats supposed to be the mutts, and the rest was just budget orientated. Anyway i wont ramble the following list is what i decided to buy, id love everyone opinions on the setup. And any hints, tips, advice. Because i havent overclocked since the opteron days.
