Someone at one of the local Intel plants said aluminum foil was OK for circuit boards, but first remove any batteries (i.e., the CMOS lithium coin cell found on motherboards) so the foil doesn't short them and possibly make them explode. Always try to touch the foil first to the ground of the circuit board, like the metal outer shell of a USB port.
