No it that review it looks like they forced a 1006 core clock on the 680 whereas with the 670 it overclocked to 1200.

No thats the 7970 at 14k, the 7950 is at 12.5k.

My bad.

Any idea why is the GTX 670 Graphics score in those screen caps is the same as the GTX 680 in the legitreviews link?

I may be wrong but isn't the Graphics score the measure on the GPU alone? IE without the CPU? And that score you corrected me on is the combined score of the GPU and CPU together.

The GPU score in the screen caps are 18131 for What MSI Afterburner seems to display as the GTX 670.

The legitreviews has the GTX 680 @ 18069, very slightly lower than the screen caps apparent GTX 670.

[Edit] seems there is not much that gets past Bobnova either...

CPU and CPU clocks are very important for GPU scores. GPU score on a 670 with a 4.5GHz SB will stomp the GPU score on a 670 with a 3.5GHz SB-E for instance.

I have no idea if that is why, but it might be.
The levels that the 670 is willing to turbo to may be a lot higher than the 680 too.

I've been reading some stuff at OCN, and the guy that posted some Gigabyte Windforce 670 results had the card overclocked to 1200 apparently -boost alone-
That explained the better than stock 680 results.
Apparently the software didn't display the clocks accurately cause it didn't recognize the card properly.

@ Don Karnage,- do you have a link to those benches?

just showing overclocked bench results is not much use.

Wow did no one else see the MSI afterburner in the benches on the last page for the 670 besides me? I said the 670's were at 1200 core clock like 8 posts ago.

But like I also said, just speculation and guessing I think the 670 at stock clocks is gonna be around or still slightly better than 7970 performance which is very cool IMO as it was originally talked about only being like 5% better performance than a 7950.

@ Don Karnage, thanks buddy :)

That's a very interesting read, they claim the after market GTX 670 is as fast if not faster than a reference GTX 680, and costing a lot less.

If that's true paying that extra for the 680 would be a bit silly, and do wonders for driving down AMD 7### series prices.

I can't wait, bring it on

With a 399.99 price tag amd is in horrible position with a 7970 at 479.99. It needs to come down close to 399.99 and the 7950 need to be under 350

And the 7870 to 300 and the 7850 to 250

I'm not concerned about AMD's position, they and nVidia have been swapping positions for a while and will continue to do that.

For the longer future i'm more worried about Intel and nVidia's position than i am AMD's

I like the single slot idea of the Galaxy, just as long as the slender HIS keeps it cool that is.

It would give 2 of them some room to breath in SLI.

Looks like 4gb and 4gb SC editions will drop tomorrow on the 670

EVGA 02G-P4-2670-KR : Amazon New! Out of Stock $399.99 -
EVGA 02G-P4-2672-KR : Amazon New! Out of Stock $419.99 -
EVGA 04G-P4-2671-KR : Amazon New! Out of Stock $469.99 -
EVGA 04G-P4-2673-KR : Amazon New! Out of Stock $489.99

And, here's some hopefully good news on availability tomorrow from this thread.

Yep

This is the exact quote from May 4th

"In total we've now shipped close to 1500 units of GTX 680 and at present have 100+ in stock with 500 due next week

I've also got 1000+ GTX 670 in stock ready for the 10th"

Newegg being the far larger e-tailer they should have more stock. Overclockers.co.uk has an annual turnover of something like $60 Million dollars, whereas Newegg has about $2.5 Billion...

My 680 is still in Germany... but should be in my hand by friday.

Wow, I'm drooling already :p
I'm quite sure that the gigabyte windforce and asus non ref 670s sport a full size pcb, with heftier vrm, more akin to a full-scale 680 :p
I'm liking the way higher clocks scale, compared to cuda core count.
