Have built machines in the past but have been out of the loop for about 5 years. Looking to put together the following. Opinions welcome. Will be a COD MOH Battlefield etc machine.

You'd want to go with the Z87 platform and the 4xxx CPUs. Cheaper and faster for gaming. The 3930K is actually based on a design that's 2 generations old but they're still the only hexacore consumer processors Intel has out.

PSU, 500w for single video card, 750W for dual.

8GB of RAM is more than plenty for gaming.

Try to avoid AIO liquid coolers, the pumps have relatively high failure rates.

You really, really don't want to miss out on having a SSD for the boot drive.

Question, if you had to choose between absolute smoothness or better picture quality, which would you choose?

+1. A great rig, but overkill for gaming in a lot of ways.

+2
Although, I'm not sure I agree 100% with the "high" failure rate of AIO coolers, I would say they would have a higher failure rate than big air and not much better performance.

Great case though!

Just about anything has a higher failure rate than air coolers. For pete's sake it only has a fan on it to break, LOL! :p

I got the same video card, but the 4GB version. In amazon, it's only $50 more. It may be a good small extra investment in case a new or bad optimized game requires a bit more of video ram.

I looked into SSD for boot drive then I read a review on newegg about failures after 5000 hours and need to install new firmware to avoid this with crucial SSD's. Those of you that have been using them for years now can educate me on reliability of the SSD.

Question, if you had to choose between absolute smoothness or better picture quality, which would you choose?

I would choose smoothness

If you do not get an SSD, you are doing yourself an injustice for sure. They are plenty reliable. In fact, more reliable than most HDD's.

SSD hands down! At least for boot drive. Gets better with some games.

Also, knu, this is the first time I hear about lightboost, had to google it, looks pretty bad ***!!!

What's the price of those monitors? I couldn't find them.

Ok changes made based on recommendations

GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-UD3H LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell 3.5GHz LGA 1150 84W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics BX80646I74770K

GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-4GD GeForce GTX 770 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready Video Card

SAMSUNG 840 Series MZ-7TD120BW 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Now I need help with getting proper memory I am confused by the DDR3 3000(O.C.)/2933(O.C.)/1600/1333 stuff for this board

Will be using 16GB total and would like a Corsair memory recommendation

- For gaming an i5-4670k is enough and you can use the saved money toward a GTX 780 (e.g. a Galaxy 780 GC)
- The UD3H seems a good mobo, but it's IMHO a bit pricey. Asus Z87-A and ASRock Extreme 4 are $15 cheaper. If you live near a Microcenter, you can get them for even less together with the CPU.
- Get some 1600, CL8/9, 1.35/1.5V 2x4GB (or 2x8GB) RAM that is compatible with your cooler. I'd get some Crucial Ballistix Sport or Corsair Vengeance Pro

If you never plan to SLI. Grab an M-ATX board IMO. Save space. And grab the 350D instead of the 650D =D.

What's your total budget?

Here's my proposed build... Assumes single card though with no plans to SLI (Heck with a 780 at 1080p even using a 120/144hz screen I wouldn't bother with it!) It'll run quite well already =).

I'm sure Knufire will come up with a better one.. But meh.

Your board is a micro ATX which is what i am reading the 350 case takes. Mine is a straight up ATX. So I assume its not going to fit.

No wife no budget.

That's my point... My build also has an M-ATX board. My build is based off a more minimalistic view. You don't NEED a full ATX board if you're never going to utilize the extra expansion slots. IMO it's a waste of space. My personal build is M-ATX and soon to be ITX. It's entirely a preference; but I see little reason for a huge build (size wise) for the sake of it. But that's just my opinion.

Ok going for final approval of changes. Going to stick with ATX format and imagine the cooler is going to be low profile enough to keep from bumping memory.
