Ok,

So I haven't paid attention to cpu's in a while but I have a Shuttle FB51 computer with seems to take a socket 478 533 chip. So I go out and pick up this http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SL7PK and it won't fit in the socket... is it cause it is a 90nm chip? I looked at the back of the chip and it looks like all the pins are straight, I counted the rows and that checks out, I can reinstall my old chip now that I have pulled it out. I am just lost. The arrows are lined up and she just won't go in....

HELP!!!

Link to the Shuttle unit manual. --> http://eu.shuttle.com/download/Archi...b51/fb51en.zip

Thanks

Brad

no, it being a 90nm cpu wont matter. this really does seem wierd but just to check what is the sspec for your other cpu? cause the only thing i got left to say, is there might be something in the cpu socket.

Yeah, what model was the previous CPU?

Weird. It should take it. Thought maybe you have a 479 shuttle but apparently it is 478

Please don't be offended, but I have to ask: Did you lift the silver arm next to the socket to install it?

I have seen some AMD guys do stange things with s478 boards.

Yeah had to ask

sorry

Are any of the pins bent?

I looked real close and didn't see any but will look closer later tonight.

From the Shuttle website a Prescott won't work, but it should still fit in the socket because there's no difference from the Northwood's pin-out.

Thanks! Didn't see that as I was glancing over the material.

Will check out the socket thanks! Don't know why the old proc. would slide right in tho..
