Mb is an Asus m8e ? Is do I need to plug the 4 pin power connector in if I already have the 8 pin power connector plugged in.My computer boots without the 4 pin in.I wonder because I have had 2 power supply's die suddenly.one lasted a year(corsair 850w) the other a corsair ax 860 which lasted a whopping 6 months.my system is : Intel 6700k,16g corsair ram, one ssd, corsair closed loop water cooler,7 fans,CD drive, blueray drive, asus gtx 780 all rapped in a corsair 900D case.I am thinking of going to an Antec PSU but before I write corsair off I need to know if I caused these PSU failures.

you only really need the second cpu power if you are extreme overclocking it.
my boards and psus have them so i run them anyway.

Thanks, yes I did see this in my manual but the way Asus states this is by typing connect the 4 pin /8pin so I was not sure if the / symbol meant both or either.
