Sure propane is dangerous, any refridgerent is dangerous. Need I remind you that R12 breaks brain blood vesels when inhaled? Cost would be the main incentive for using propane over other refridgerents. But the CO2 idea sounds good, I've got a couple of aluminum CO2 "power bottles" (they have 100PSI regulators on them for using power tools in remote locations, but they just screw off), maybe I'll give her a shot (if I get the spare time to dink with 'em).
