in the bios im running 1.41 v on the cpu to to achieve the overclock i have now of 3.53

i have tried so many diffrent things and i cannot get close to 4 ghz..i think my ram is killin me or something..

umm that is ddr2 1066 ram btw...
sandra says its 800 but its not ...
pll:1.6
nb:1.7
sb:1.2
ram:2.25

i ran this chip up to 1.6v on the cpu and i could not hit 4ghz
tried 9,8,7 multi with no luck..

tried 9,8,7 multi with no luck..

Well 450 FSB with a 9 multi will get you 4.05ghz, are you able to get 450fsb at a 8/7/6 multiplier?

Yes I tried 8/9 multi simiular numbers
Tried 333 and 400 also auto did not work
I don't know the vid cpuz dosent tell
but I'm betting I got one that won't do it just because I tried so many times with so many difrent numbers etc etc

I kid you not I prob spent a few weeks trieing nrearky every number volt combo that made since to me

that chip is going to run real hot at 4ghz. Try using only one stick of ram. how dose 450x8 go? get that stable, then try for 450x9

I see what ya mean..get the multi right with everything stable x8 then try x9
I didden think of that
I'll try that and the one stick of ram when I get home

Wow1.65 I'd never do that way too high for my benching
I thought bolting it past 1.6 was like terrible for it
It ruins the metals and what not right??
Thanks at this point luck is what I need LOL

i wouldnt go from 450x8, then straight to 450x9, i can almost say with certainty that its not gonna work like that. just oc with the x9 multi, and see how she scales like that.

k so far the work up to 420x9 is working beautifuly...
ive not yet jumped to 450...
im working on it still...

ok no single channel did not reviel anything better..
also ..note to self no overclcoking when tyred..
lol

I forgot how much it took to get me that verification at 4.4, it was at least 1.7v, possibly 1.75.

I'll probably be doing some benching next week with a pot of DICE; now that I've found out why I was being held back I can try for 4.4 again. I'll let you know the results, in case it might help.

Of course, it probably won't if you don't feel like running 1.6v (More like 1.9 :D) or more. I like to volt the snot out of my chips, lets 'em know who is in charge.

Lmao too funny
Thanks also I think I'm done for now there's no way I'm gunna hit it
I'll wait till Christmas to get the latest quad for cheep
Btw it's true anything over1.55 does reduce the life span dramaticly and it does damage that sensitive metal in there
But I'm alot like you volt the crap outa it that's why we bought it LOL

today i have achieved 3.87 ghz pretty stable 1.45 on the cpu :)

I thnk the nb needs 1.8v to reach 4ghz so Im una me to hit it
New Board reccomendations??????

Why do you wanna hit 4 GHz so much? It wont be stable anyway and if it is stable you will just be degrading your chip fast. Have your Q6600 run at 3.6 GHz with a safe voltage, no point in killing your chip so fast right? I hit 4 GHz once, but it wasnt even remotely stable with 1.55V would BSOD as soon as any reasonable load was put on it.

The why bit is why we are here. The passion of pushing the hardware close to, right at, and far, far past it's limits for bragging rights or personal enjoyment; that's exactly why.

Even if it does crash right after you save the validation. :)

Yes, but is that worth a new motherboard? :p I agree pushing hardware as far as you can is fun, but you also need to weigh it up against the cons. Paying 150 euro for just a validation at 4 GHz is a little over the top for me.
