Quad Channel 4vs8 DIMMS

I have mb whose have 8 DIMMs slots, and its support quad channel, so i have an question did I can see any hit of performance when i change 4x4gb to 8x2gb?

No difference in performance at the same settings but 4 memory modules are easier to set at a higher clock.
