R9 290X and 290 Owners Club

So i got my R9 290 and install a Arctic Extreme III on it.

947/1250 @ 1100/1300 oc.

Idle

Stock = 37-40 Fan % 30
Arctic = 32-35 Fan % 30

Load

Stock = 90-92 Fan % 50
Arctic = 67-75 Fan % 50

Load

Stock = 80-83 Fan % 100
Arctic = 60-65 Fan % 100

Testet in 3D mark 11 and Heaven 4.0
The fan at 100 % with the Arctic really do not say anything, i can only hear my corsair h80i. Im happy now hehe...
i use Zalman pasta on the gpu and removed the preloadet the arctic comes with.

Temps look great! Yeah I am seeing that you can get a few C off of temps with the same cooler just with reapplying TIM. Looks like yours was put on heavily as well, yikes.

For future reference, the paste that comes on the Arctic coolers is very good stuff, either MX-2 or MX-4.

Janus67 i know, i read that on a homepage, but there was so much, and it does not the the r9 290 chip so have to take it off.

That was a pretty good score but there is a lot of room for improvement.

Thanks for those pics H.r. I wanted to see one on a 290 before I bought one. I've used water so long these air coolers seem almost foreign to me but that's all the funds allow at the moment.

Updated OP and the spreadsheet...Well, seems like I won't get to try the non x 290, and might go straight for the used 290X. Argh, need to sell some more stuff before ordering it though.

Still, amazing results for such lowish clocks...

After comparing results, these cards are beating Nvidia 780/Titan almost only in 3DM11 and Heaven. Other test results depend more from each card overclocking potential and used cooling as sometimes it's better or worse.
Still, R9 290 has much better price than GTX780 ( I won't even mention Titan )... but reference design and stock cooler are somehow not convincing in my case.

Thanks for this Convinced me that my GTX 770 is way outdated and I desperately need an upgrade...R9 290 in the big Egg warehouse has my name on it

I just realize that I replace my hardware more than my toothbrush or for that matter any other piece of clothing I own, luckily the good folks in this forum find that normal unlike "regular" people out there.
