I'm looking for 2X4 (8 GB total) or RAM. I'm unsure of what RAM I should get. Based on the reading I've done, I believe I should get low profile RAM because of the Hyper 212 EVO. I'll be overclocking the CPU to 4.0 Ghz. I don't have a few things picked out yet either so it's not a complete list.

Here's the parts I have so far:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000 BX80637I53570K

I don't think low profile is a necessity, tall heatsinks should be fine in the second slot with the 212+/Evo. Corsair Vengeance or G.SKILL Ripjaws should be fine. Samsung also has a low profile kit that OCs like mad.

Btw, if you post that in general hardware, we can give you advice on the whole build...I see some optimizations that can be made.

Do you actually have all of those parts yet? If not, that motherboard is probably a waste of money for you (just a little suggestion there). As for ram, I don't think the Evo should interfere with much. Something like the G.Skill Ares Series RAM should be fine for low profile. However, I am not sure how close the Evo's fan will get to the first slot on the sabertooth.

Edit: Knufire has ninja'ed me again :sn: so +1 to his advice. Also, forgot that you are doing only a two-slot setup. You definitely will not be hitting the second slot with the Evo so any RAM would be fine there.

I have already bought the motherboard. According to the instructions, memory should always go in slots 1 and 3 to ensure a proper boot. I had thought about putting them in 2 and 4. Wish these 3rd party coolers weren't so huge.

Yet another reason to buy no-heatsink modules, such as the brand I've been viciously accused of recommending exclusively. :D

I'm actually happy that I didn't go with those big heatsink G Skills or else I wouldn't have been able to fit my 212+
In honest reality, heatsinks on RAM modules is just a marketing scheme, they don't perform any better, they just look cooler
I have Mushkin Enhanced Blackline ram which has a much smaller heatsink and I got this much clearance between my 212 and my RAM in slots 1 and 3
