For future reference if you hit F8, even if windows is corrupted it should take you to the screen where you are offered several options. Among them is safemode and last working confhuration. Many times that last working config option has saved my butt when I was getting the windows is corrupt message. It doesn't always work, but it's always worth a try. The other thing to try is safemode and then running a system restore.
 
Well when that happenes I just hit the restart butting go back into the bios and put hte multi back to x12 and boot normally.
