Hi Folks,

I have bought a 2700x and am looking for some fast 32GB memory to go with it. 3200 speed would be nice.

I have read so many discussion forums and reviews and still do not know which kit to get. It seems some people say that it is hit and miss and you need a specific kit - i.e. Flare. Others say most of the ram issues are in the past and any memory rated for 3200 would be fine.

I have shortlisted down to:

G.SKILL TridentZ Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C14D-32GTZ - has lots of reviews on newegg including from people who say it works fine with 2700x

G.SKILL TridentZ Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Intel Z170 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C14D-32GTZSW - not really sure what the difference is to the one above apart from it is more geared towards intel?

G.SKILL Flare X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C14Q-32GFX - 4 sticks and only 2 reviews... but it flare which is supposed to be built for Ryzen?

G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C14D-32GVK - Plently of reviews also including people who say it works at 3200 with ryzen

I don't care about RGB at all - just want the most stable, quality ram i can get that will run for 5 years.

In terms of motherboards... all the ones i have looked at for ASUS and AsRock in the x470x category do not seem to have any of these on the QVL list. Any particular board anyone would recommend (with 2xm2 slots)

Which Ram Kit would you recommend getting? (feel free to also suggest a different kit!)

cheers

If you get motherboard which has good BIOS then you can get any memory and it will work.
Personally I was testing Ballistix Elite 16GB modules/Samsung IC and it was working up to 3466 CL16 on Ryzen without issues. Above that wasn't really possible to stabilize but it's just how Ryzen acts. All listed by you memory kits are based on the same Samsung IC so the only difference are heatsinks and maybe little changes in memory profiles. Recommended is Flare X or Trident Z designed for Ryzen ( list is on the G.Skill website ). Don't look at the motherboards QVL as not all memory kits were actually tested, even if are on the list. It also may change with BIOS version.

X470 motherboards with 2x M.2 will probably support one drive in PCIE X4 mode and one in PCIE X2. No chance to set RAID or anything else. I have only X470 Taichi and it works good with 2x M.2 but setup is as l described so one drive can make up to ~3.4GB/s and one ~1.7GB/s. No issues with stability etc. I guess that other users can recommend something else.

Hi Woomack, Thanks for your reply!

I have been onto the GSkill website and done a search and came up with Trident Z for AMD 2x16GB kit (https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-3200c16d-32gtzrx)

it has latency specs of 16-18-18-38

I was under the impression that 14 is better (i.e. 14-14-14-34) of which when I do a search it comes back for ~10 kits which have this but are not made for AMD specifically. Would you say I should go with the one for AMD or pick one of the ones with 14-14-14-34 (https://www.gskill.com/en/finder?ca...p_14=DDR4&prop_2=32GB+(16GBx2)&prop_3=3200MHz) and if so which one would be best do you think?

Many Thanks!

All depends on the motherboard. I have X470 Taichi and I'm able to run various kits at 3200 CL14 without issues and not even one was designed for AMD. On the other hand, maximum on this ASRock is 3600 and guaranteed stable 3466. There are some other motherboards that will support higher clock but I guess that with 3200 CL14 most should work as long as there is new BIOS.
