build quality, noise output and static pressure. as a combination of all these attributes they are about as good as you can get. and are still reasonablly priced

generally it is noise/performance.

however it is not true to say there are no good competition for it.

Cooljag 2400 at 70% basically gives AP-15's performance and with that room to do better.
Reeven 2000 at 100% is also pretty darn good with static pressure / noise.

AP-15 however has been around longer, and for those that 'water cool', we tend to have enough radiator space to look for the 'quietest' fan, and the AP-15 just happens to be around during the time when we are all testing.

as a Chassis fan though, it is not nearly as good.
it is really a radiator fan only.

but thats only if noise is a factor correct? there are better fans for ppl who dont care about noise?

Sure, cheap Deltas would be fine.

GT-15's Have a great noise profile, good pressure and enough for a rad. Good stuff.

Get some 3000+ RPM fans, no worries?

Honestly, why not the AP-15's? Too much money? Honeslty, they are hard to beat.

If price is an issue, this is still a go to rad fan for years and years. Good stuff. Just not as good as the AP ones.

This is better too.

If your underraded and need more fannage, then you gotta get loud fans. Then you defeat the main reason to watercool.

Actually now that i think about it im quite retarded :[

performance wise, nearly TWICE of ap-15.

noise is acceptable.
