For the past three weeks my gpu has not had any work is this normal for SETI?
log said something like this
10/6/2011 9:30:38 PM | | Starting BOINC client version 6.12.34 for windows_x86_64

10/6/2011 9:30:38 PM | | NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 465 (driver version 28026, CUDA version 4000, compute capability 2.0, 993MB, 855 GFLOPS peak)

10/6/2011 9:31:44 PM | SETI@home | Project has no tasks available

I have seen it check for CPU work about ten times a day but only once for GPU. Is there a way for me to manually check for work? will that even help?

Not normal, I have 2-3x more cuda tasks then others........do you use an optimizer?

I know there is currently a work shortage due to the project being offline most of last week (which causes all machines to ask for lots of work, the excessive demand drains the work cache until things normalize a few days later.)

No I don't use optimized versions don't have the time right now to fix it if problems arise and I have had problems in that past with optimizers.

Never mind
10/7/2011 5:34:42 AM | SETI@home | Reporting 8 completed tasks, requesting new tasks for NVIDIA GPU
10/7/2011 5:34:47 AM | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 3 new tasks

I am now getting Astropulse. Do we have the option of seeing the data that we've processed for SETI? :salute:

How do I tell if my GPU is actually doing anything?

Currently I only see 8 tasks running in the manager... Which would fit my 4 cores and 4 threads....

Just want to make sure I'm crunching as much as I can...

Within the boincmanager I go to advanced view, then there is a tab that shows all my work units. Sort that tab by % completed.
Now look at the work unit name, the GPU units will say CUDA at the end of the name.

If you do not see a CUDA unit on the list then you need to optimize, the easiest way is to install the lunatics installer for your OS and GPU brand.

Well... I've installed the Lunatics Optimizer 4 times now.. Making sure I followed the instructions from the sticky to the "T".

Still no Cuda WU's being worked on.

Any ideas what to check out? Or is it possible there just isn't any Cuda work right now?

Here's my event log after installing the Lunatics Optimizer and Restarting BOINC.

Says there is no usable GPU.... ???

Well... Installed the older driver... Still no dice.

I do notice that it appears none of the optimization stuff is running in task manager... I've installed the Lunatic program 4 times now, and it still doesn't seem to be working.

Here's a screenshot of task manager...

(EDIT: I'm a moron... Forgot to click the 'Show all users' button!)

Well that didn't work... Lemme try this...

They do show up in in Process Explorer though... Which is weird. Every other computer I've ever installed BOINC to and run the optimizer shows them in task manager. (EDIT: I'm a moron... Forgot to click the 'Show all users' button!)

I wonder if this problem could have anything to do with the fact that I installed the BOINC Manager as a service so that it would run even when nobody is logged in on the computer?

Ha! Figured it out!

Uninstalled and Reinstalled.... Then Re-Ran the optimizer.

Now crunching on all available processors and GPUs!

Now to see what kind of difference it makes when I add in the second Matrix card.

OK... One last question...

Should I run a really stable overclock on my 580 or leave it at the stock clocks?...

I know running some hardcore "bawls out" OC would be a bad idea, but I can run my card at 875 - 925 or even better and not ever have any stability issues.
