Over Here!
I figured I'd make a post to make sure I'm not missing anything...

Long story short, I have an OCZ 750w ZT PSU in a Silverstone SG09. The case just doesn't need the long PCIE and 24pin/8pin cables; they actually are coiled up in where the slim ODD would go, so I have decided to make some new, shorter cables. Here's a peak at my cables sticking out...

I received 2 extra PCIE cables when I bought the PSU and OCZ shipped me a 24pin and 8pin cable (Thanks OCZ!!!!). The plan is to remove each wire/pin from the ATX plugin side (not the PSU connector side) cut the wire down 6-8 inches, strip, crimp and sleeve the cable and after many hours and a few cuts I'd have a modular set of short cables!

Am I missing a step or do I need to solder the cables into the crimp pin? Just want some reassurance before I get started...

Here's the part # info for the pins I'm gonna buy...

With shipping costs I'm almost better off picking up some from Microcenter... would these work?

As always, thank you for any comments/advice!

If you have an actual wire crimper that curls the pin flaps into the bare wire and its insulation, then you don't need to solder the wire to the pin.

I would slide the sleeving over the new wires before crimping the pin to make the sleeving easier.

Everything else looks good to me. I've done this before on hardwired 24pin and 6pin cables.

Ok good... I have a crimper tool and am familiar with crimping (making cables @ work); but I haven't done anything more with a power supply than resleeving. Mainly I wanted to make sure I wasn't going about it the wrong way.

I'm gonna place my order with mouser and hope I get it by the weekend!

I'd say I'll post some pics once I get started but don't hold me to it!!!
