Since I did this for myself, I thought I'd share it for those who are interested
I switched recently from 2x512 Mushkin XP4000 Redline 2-2-2 to 4x512.
I ran some benchmarks to compare it with Mushkin Redline XP4000 2x1Gb (my numbers come from a review on cdrinfo.com).
Not a perfect comparison, as the CPU speed differ and I don't own the 2x1Gb therefore rely on a published test.
But I think I can safely say that if you already have 2x512 of good (mushkin is great) RAM, you don't necessarily have to sell it and buy a 2x1Gb. Buying an additional 2x512 of the same yields roughly the same performance, and the 2T drop in performance is not so dramatic.

Nice work guillaume :D
it would be nice to see a OcF member with the 1Gig Redlines post there results though, it seems like the OCers here have more Skillz then most reviewers.. ROFL

A few questions:

1) Your UCCC does 288Mhz??
2) What speed is the 4x512 @?
3) Are you using same CPU speed for comparo?

Thanks for this review. I read it with interest.
A bigger issue for me, however, is the voltage difference.

The 4x512 run at 3.3-3.5 v while the 2x1024 run at 2.6-2.9 v
The cold boot problem with my mobo means I would prefer to sell my 2x512 when I upgrade to 2 GB.
