Heheheh I can't wait to get off work today!

Let's see how far I can get this chip now! :D

small fft run with half the cores disabled. Seems feasible enough. You thinking theres just an error there?
Maybe. I have dual cores that run hotter than that on better cooling. Need to get into that over 40c range to get more accurate.
I'd like to see 6 threads for an hour or so.

And here it is:

I came back to a crashed Prime95 :-/
Seems it needs more a step more Vcore to run all 6 cores.

For my daily overclock/use though, I'll only be running 3 cores. Maybe 4.
But yes, with all 6 cores enabled, seems that this would be the highest I can go..

I'll need you to PM me you addy Silver and I'll have lovey drop this in the mail in the AM.

Something to consider Kyle...

If you only plan on running a few cores for 24/7 use (folding or otherwise), my FX4130 was only $40 at MC. I run it 24/7 at 5.0@ 1.50v with my Noctua and when benching on ambient water it runs most benches at [email protected]. Let me see if I can find a sub or 2. These chips are great for everything and I'm really surprised they're not more popular.

Wow! Those are good subs!!
Also a good chip to run 5Ghz @ 1.5 Vcore.
Was that on all 4 cores??

But it's also Bulldozer... I thought Vishera > Bulldozer for pretty much everything?

whoa. silver, whats up with your -12v?
haha yah like ATM says it's the software :D

It's never accurate ;)

I've seen it drop to -7.8 before
Always a bit scary to see it so low, then I remember, naw that ain't right :p

The Vcore reading is bang on, and right now it says 1.632 Volts.
Finally, 4.9 Ghz Prime stable & WHEA free!

Ooof though, lots of volts for only 3 cores :(

4.9 Ghz!

Stable! (Kinda) Cool!
4.9.PNG
Yayy! lol.
I'll try for more buut me thinks this may be the limit...
4.9 Ghz daily is nothing to sneeze at :)

Look at that Full advantage of shutting down cores!!! Nothing wrong with that at all.

I'm curious about voltage. Did you pump it in hard, or gradually work up to that to find stability? This clock should be higher, or lower voltage IMO.

You need a better (Asus) motherboard. That UD3 is doing you no justice.

Worked it slowly from 1.55 volts Shrimpy.

Now, 4.9 Ghz is prime stable at 1.6 Vcore yes, but I get many, many WHEA errors in the event log. 1.632 Vcore is what it takes to stop those WHEA errors. :-/

Temps are good, but when do you get concerned about die degradation?

When I push 1.7V daily?
I dunno.. that's a good question.

Did AMD ever release the recommended max Vcore for FX?
Perhaps it's higher than the PII's 1.55?

I thought as long as temps are reasonable, these FX chips will handle some preety high voltages?
