Standoffs/Cardboardy thingies

Alright, so I'm building a new system. The motherboard surprisingly came with no screws... no standoffs, nothing. The case didn't come with standoffs either.

Either one or the other has always come with them for me, this has never happened. I had to delve into my secret stash.

Only thing is, the cardboard circle protectors you put on the screws before screwing the motherboard in, I don't have. Do I need those, or should the standoffs be enough? It's such a general question, although I've never ran into this issue before...
