I have an old dell optiplex that I accidently brok the cpu heatsink bracket off of and now it isn't getting nearly enough contact with the processor to cool it at all. I'm wondering if I could use some thermal adhesive like this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100013) to just permanently attach it. I know that that stuff is not meant for cpu's, but would it work? Its an old system, so I don't really care if I can't get the heatsink off again. The processor is a p4 2.4ghz in an optiplex gx260.

Yeah, it should work just fine. Be sure to add some weights on top of the heatsink while it's setting up to make sure you have good contact between the heatsink and IHS.
