Totally new to overclocking...please help.

I've been using computers for quite a long time, but one thing I've never tried to do is overclock anything on my pc... well, now I think it's time to give it a shot. I just built my own pc, first time doing so, and I'd like to try to overclock the cpu. My processor is an AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0ghz quad core. I have an MSI motherboard (boasting 'afterburner' and 'easy overclocking technology...) My GPU is easy enough to overclock as it comes with a utility specifically for that. GPU is also MSI built, GTX 650 2 GB. But I digress, I'm here to talk about my CPU.

I have no idea where to even start. Any help would be much appreciated.

Its dolks guide to the Phenom II, I know you have an athlon, but some of the basics are the same there, its a good place to start for someone that is new to overclocking.
