Can anyone please tell me what kind of tweaks i can do that will not ruin my computer, but make it go faster...

Thanks,
Matt

Honestly, the first upgrade to that without replacing a bunch, would be to install at least another stick of pc133 sdram. 128mbs is what's holding that rig back the most. The next upgrade would be to buy yourself a copy of windows xp (home or pro), and dump Me. Me was the worst os MS ever produced.

As far as tweaks go for a Compaq, there are software versions of stuff like Tweakmonster, and whatever else, but they really aren't going to do much of anything for you. The extra ram and a better os would be the best thing you could do for that rig.

definetly, I am currently due to hardware failure running a 750mhz duron, that is also part of a compaq. the 568mb of ram makes the thing run fast, well within reason. XP needs at least 255mb of ram to run 128mb is pushing it.

I think i'll just dish out some money and buy a new computer.
