Ultimate Gaming Computer

Thats almost too broad of a question to ask though. First off, tech changes so much, you almost have to put a time frame on the "ultimate gaming pc". Like the perfect gaming machine as of a certain date.

To answer the question though, I would like a large high res monitor and a top of the line video card.

i would jsut buy the top of the line falcon northwest and forget about building. They do a superb job at just about everything. Now they even come watercooled

couple 6800gt's in sli, watercooling, athlon64 fx top of line cpu, dfi mobo, and an absolutely OBSCEEN screen. how big do they get???? :) oh, and 2x512mb of the most expensive ram you can get. all oc'd like a maniac. put it in a big ol case with lots of airflow

If you had no money limit, how would you build your ultamate gaming computer?

I'd build me an FX55 rig and another dual OPTERON for folding :p

AMD FX-55
2048 MB of Fastest RAM at the moment
SLI 6800 Ultras overclocked
Sound, hrm, don't know really
Nice nice LCD with a 8ms response time (they do exist)
hrm, nice mousepad, nice mouse, Sennheiser HDsomething
All phase change cooled
;)

just go to www.alienware.com and click all the most expensive stuff while customizing :D

but it will be something with a FX55 and dual 6800 ultras.

wow my alienware dream machine costs only.....

$ 13,528.00 for As low as $406 per month!

guess im greedy lol

I would argue it needs limits, because if i had unlimited money i would buy multiple 20,000 monitors (they have monitors that are like that that are 9ft widescreen), a 40,000 uxga projector

I would have a sever motherboard custom made to have 16 PCIE slots of which i would run 8 6800Ultras in SLI (yes this technicly supported) alkl prometia cooled
I would run 128 Opeteron Processors, all cooled via pahse changed

I would have 100Terabytes, becuase i could, with all my programs run off of 15000 rpm scsi drives

256 Gigabytes of ram

Stuido quality sound card and 1,000,000 speaker set

100Ft screen for the projector

A really awesome chair

mx1000

I would then proced to pay the game companies with my unlimted money to have there games support 128processor multithreading and 64bit, as well as pay microsoft to make a 128 multie threaded 64 bit OS

whenever these threads should be made, they should have a limit of some sort

Total $2546.49

BTW: I already have Watercooling that is why you only see the block.

i'd get a

FX57 with a
R520 and
bestest mobo
2 gigs of some obscenely expensive RAM with
two 19" LCD's with 8ms response,
2 seagate 120gb satas in raid,
some slick aluminum case w/a pc power and cooling PSU,
some kickass speakers + soundcard,
and a nice desk :)

Lets see in realistic mode.

Dual FX-55 with 4 6800 Ultras in SLI
4 74GB Raptors in Raid 0
Best MOtherboard
PCP&C 800 watt SLI Power Supply*2
Audigy 2 ZS Platnum Pro with Dolby DIgital Surround On 20 Speakers surrounding my Room
Phase Change Cooling
2048 RAM *2
Gigabit LAN with a T1 Connection or a 6mb Cable Connection

well, about $7,300, let that be a limit

i was hoping to get some opinions on how to build it

my current dell (w/ upgrades) cam barely play UT2K4 on high res

I used to love these types of threads.

Though it Pains me to say it, this system will be an AMD build :(

AMD Athlon 64 FX 55
DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-D
4 WD 74Gb Raptors RAID 0
PC P&C Turbo-Cool 510 SLI

OCZ PowerStream 600W
( used for HDD's and DVDrom )
2 X BFG GeForce 6800 Ultra OC™ 512MB
2 X OCZ EL DDR PC-5000 Dual Channel Platinum DFI nF4 Special ( 4 512 chips total )
10 x 19" Pro SL-LCD
2 X Sony DRU-720A
( only because I'm too lazy to look for another DVD rom thingy )
D-Link Xtreme G DWL-G520 wireless NIC
MITSUMI FA404A 7-IN-1 FLOPPY DRIVE

For a Case I would build Custom, The system would be cooled with Cascade Phase change, for the CPU. The GPU's & RAM would be cooled with Liquid cooling, The Case would probably be about the size of a Bar Fridge, on Rollers, Mounted so that the Power supplies are facing the rear of the case and all my I/O's are on the side of the case.
the case would also have an internal Power Bar. and UPS.

Mouse and Keyboard would be wireless, but not sure what I would want, I am quite happy with my MX700 but I think I would want an MX518, and/or MX1000

I think that covers everything required.

my dream pc is in my dream i can't afford anything in real life. i'll stick with my 9800pro. gets me playing most game in reasonable fps cus i play 10 x 7 on my samsung lcd.
