Unlock Athlon XPs?

I'm getting a lot of different responses. I thought that all Athlon XPs (Semprons now) were being superlocked. Some say that they're like Intel now, there's no way to unlock them. Others say that you can use the pin mod (http://www.ocinside.de/go_e.html?/html/workshop/pinmod/amd_pinmod.html) to change the multiplier.

So what's the deal?

I may be wrong but I believe they're locked down. The pin mod is for mobos that can't handle above 12x on unlocked processors (mostly mobiles). They can be unlocked but that requires connecting and disconnecting bridges on the cpu and I for one wouldn;t wait to risk trashing my cpu doing that unless I was already lined up to get a new one.

Yes. those mods are just for motherboards that can't read already unlocked CPUs.

keep in mind that the mobiles are unlocked- they are pretty much what everyone going xp uses these days.
