upgrading from 2gb of ddr2 to 4 gb of ddr3!

i am new here and need a good welcome :D
i have a g41 extreme chipset and 2 gb of ddr2 ram can i upgrade to a 4 gb or even 3 gb of ddr3? (i have 32 bit xp )
my cpu is a dual core e5300 2.6ghz
and gfx card ati hd 6750..

if i upgrade my ram will i notice any diffrence and is my specs good to run all the asssasin creed games and call of dutys?

(i think i will overclock my cpu soon :D)
 
Like EarthDog said, you can't use a DDR3 stick on a DDR2

Also, your PC is 32-bit meaning you can't upgrade more than 3.25GB, and since you have 2GB already, I don't think it's worth upgrading, because 2GB is already quite a lot for XP because XP is VERY light considering it's an 11yo OS. If you use your PC just for web browsing then I don't think it's worth the upgrade, but if you do some light gaming an extra gigabyte might help.
