My friend bought new computer recently and he played prototype on med. resolution and computer suddenly shoot down he thought it is overheating  and leaved him for hour but when he was turning on the computer i wouldn't start he burned 500w power supply and is geforce 9800 gt how is that possible?? :screwy: (it was a sunny day so lightning shock couldn't be)

Hard to say. There can still be electric surges that can harm equipment.

Did he try to put another PSU in the machine to see if that was the problem?

it burned his wires suddenly all at one 10 sec before temp was around 35-45 which is very low and pc is not custom build

Sounds like a defective cheap generic PSU would be taking back to where he bought for warranty claim, and to make sure it didnt damage any other components too M/B , GPU ect
