Whats the A64 3200+ equivalent Intel cpu?

It's more along the lines of a 640...as for which is superior techology, I think they each have strengths and weaknesses...
 
For 64bit functionality AMD is the best but at the moment you wont find the benifits of 64 that impressive or widely used. My suggestion is go for 3200 for games and intel for visual/audio stuff.
 
Yeah, it takes about an Intel 640 to match performance with an AMD Athlon64 3200 s939 CPU. The intel's have been argued to have better multitasking capabilities due to Hyper-Threading on the P4's as well as improved performance in things that benefit from lots of raw speed like audio and video work, but the K8 architecture of the AMD Athlon64's tend to have better single threaded performance for things like games and photoshop.
