There was one reason why I didn't buy a PS3 a few months ago and went to the darkside...the price tag. If sony had priced the PS3 a little lower than £300, maybe £240 then I would have bought it but at the time the 360 had more titles and a lower price and now I'm regretting my decision. I wish I bought a PS3, there are so many games I want this that are PS3 exclusives it isn't even funny.
wow, that's unusual; i've heard of very few 360 owners regretting their decision (unless of course their console brick's, and there are a few of them
)
to the friends comment above: you're right on the money; in fact, it's the PRIMARY reason i just bought a new 360 and not a ps3, my number 1 priority is to play with my buds online, and they have ybox's
....on the downloadable media: you're also on the money that NOW downloadable/streaming HD is ****ty. it's overpriced, it's not so easy to get, and it's OVER-****ING-PRICED. but i'm talking about trends, and in my crystal ball i see one thing becoming clear: people want **** ON DEMAND; they want it now, they don't want to buy a disc. they have broadband, and streaming HD (albeit somewhat compressed.........and yet i would strongly argue that most non-geeks don't give a **** about the compression) is the thing. take a look at hulu, comcast on-demand, xbox vids or any of that. but you're on the money that right now it's too damn overpriced. it's beyond me that no one is stepping in to offer a monthy-fee streaming video service (something like this on the xbox would be brilliant, wouldn't you pay what you're paying now for netflix to instead get streaming vids whenever you like??).........anyway, my point is that in my mind, all discs are rather archaic. bluray will fill the gap between dvd and downloadable-everything.........how big that gap is depends on whether someone can get their **** together and offer high-speed streaming, easy to access video (for example a service that could be accesses from set-top-boxes, your pc, and your consoles, for one fee)
one thing i'll say, and this being an xbox owner, is this: it's a good thing that the ps3 is on the rise: competition is GOOD GOOD GOOD for us the consumers, and we shouldn't forget it
