I am looking at buying a 7950GT, most probably an XFX, but i have noticed that they make a few different models [550Mhz up to 610Mhz]. are these clock speeds done by bios or ae the chips physicaly altered???

The chips themselves are not physically altered. If you are in the market for a 7950GT get the cheapest XFX (if thats what your leaning towards) and overclock it yourself. Most of the time you will get the same if not better clock speeds than the "OC" models of the cards.

640 is a BIG oc thats almost GTX specs!

I got two of these BFG 7950GTs running in SLI, I used to get a bit more out of a single card setup 630 core 790 mem. But after movin to SLI I cant seem to pass the 600 barrier :bang head

Im un sure but I think its due to the limitations of the PSU being only 600 wats.
