I'm still using the built-in AC97 audio on my 8K5A3+.

Would getting a new PCI video card make a noticable difference in sound quality and effectiveness in games?

I'm mainly a headphones user and I remember going from the built-in audio on my last machine to a Soundblaster PCI 512 produced a night and day difference- even with headphones.

Getting a PCI video card worth it?

no...i was using a SBLive...took it out do to conflicts...started using onboard sound...i can not tell a difference

Many people saw a difference in terms of sound which is a given and performance since it takes a bit of load off of the CPU.
