1/31/2024 Final results shown in post #22. We did not win but we took backmore than 92 million of the lead that TAAT had against us. Meaning that we raced to the very end. Yesterday TAAT had a 2.16 billion point lead and at the end they only had 2.06 billion more than ourselves. We took a chunk out of them in the end.

My un-official scoring shows that:
1st: TAAT - 8,677,187,606
2nd: Overclockers.com - 6,614,438,541
3rd: ExtremeHW - 5,060,055,636
4th: EVGA - 4,959,859,095
5th: [H]ardOCP - 3,465,878,807

There were no losers. 5th place earned nearly 3.5 billion in a week. That ain't bad by any measure. The race between 3rd and 4th got exciting. So close. It was fun watching to see how that would end. We started the strongest as we were #1 for half a day. We hit the "hole shot" as drag racers would say. We just didn't have the "top end".

Without winning the race, we earned over 6.6 billion points. That's just... just... wow. That's like very awesome. We really did great here. Feel good about what you helped us do because it is good indeed. Thank you to everyone who pitched in. Our daily folders have always been great and many of you were able to boost production for the race. Thank you. Some folks folded some time ago and came back just to help us out. That means a lot. Thank you. Some are new recruits. We hope that you had fun and thank you for giving F@H a try and helping us out.

Going the distance to the last minute shows a good strong work ethic that I'm proud to be a part of. You guys brought it and kept the pressure on.

Until next time, be well and happy folding.

Build, Borg, Recruit.

====================================================================

1/30/2024 I feel that this should be a double post but I still don't see my original post for today so here it goes (again).

See pututu's thread for better details.

Today is the last day. Countdown timer here. Keep it up through tonight. That's all that's left. Just one more night. TAAT has improved their lead but we've slowed their advance over the last two days. Kudos to us and a thank you to all who helped increase our production for the duration of this race with one night to go. We have a firm grasp on 2nd place which is where I predicted we'd finish. However, I did NOT think that 1st would go to TAAT A.K.A. AnandTech. They really had the power to flex and flex it they did.

Maybe we can close the 2 billion+ gap in a night. Maybe.

One last night to be all in and the race is done.

If you've joined us for the first time, :welcome: and thank you. We hope that you stay and help us help scientists who find cures for cancer and such. It's a noble cause and the race provided some much needed fun.

More tomorrrow.

==================================================================

1/29/2024 Spreadsheet updated in post #16. The #1 team of TAAT is leading us by almost 2 billion points. We are leading the #3 team by almost a billion points. The delta's between teams is widening but so to is our hold on the #2 spot. We are not in danger of reaching #1 but similarly we are not in danger of reaching #3 either.

Just a few more days to go. Keep it up and we'll see out total in the end.

==================================================================

1/28/2024 Updated spreadsheet in post #15. TAAT is showing strong dominance over all other teams. Yesterday they were 1.2 billion ahead of the #2 team and today they are 1.6 billion. That's a gain of 400 million against a moving target. They didn't earn 400 million, they earned 400 million MORE than the #2 team, which is us.

We've also had a very strong showing keeping the rest of the teams at bay. We have a gap of about 600 million between us and the #3 team of ExtremeHW. They have really taken the call to arms in a big way. When looking at total points outside of the race, they are #5 but they have built, borged and/or recruited themselvs into #3 for the race. That's impressive.

Results at the end of day 4(?).

1st - 5,364,182,559 - TAAT
2nd - 3,799,657,324 - overclockers.com
3rd - 3,158,007,720 - ExtremeHW
4th - 2,796,583,717 - EVGA
5th - 1,893,904,503 - [H]ardOCP

======================================================================

1/27/2024 Only just got home. WhitehawkEQ was good enough to call me when I didn't update. This is my fault. I knew I was going to be out this morning but I took a chance that I could get the scores out before I hit the road. Then I thought I would be back early enough that I could still do it this afternoon. Here it is in the evening and I'm only now getting on-line. I'll get today's numbers along with tomorrow's and have a full update.

My apologies to you all. I could have sent word that I might not get this done today and I didn't. Thank you for your continued efforts and I will do better.

======================================================================

1/26/2024 We are still in second place but we are about to get our asses handed to us. We were behind the #1 team by 193 million points and are now behind by 851 million. 3rd place is catching us and at the current rate will over-take us. 4th place is looking to do the same.

We are not going to win this thing but we can fight to stay #2!

=======================================================================

1/25/2024 It appears the the [H] forums went off-line. I feel more than a bit confident that the results below will match the official results to date. The race only just started so we can see where we are. It's not over until it is.

========================================================================

1/24/2024 After a full day of racing, we are in 2nd place.

TAAT earned 1,198,436,909 points in a day.
We are close with 1,005,163,133 points in the same day.
The race for 3rd place is tight. ExtremeHW earned 687,117,340 points.
Close behind is EVGA earning 668,376,830.
[H]ardOCP finishes up with an impressive 451,353,984 points.

1st - 1,198,436,909 - TAAT
2nd - 1,005,163,133 - Overclockers.com
3rd - 687,117,340 - ExtremeHW
4th - 668,376,830 - EVGA
5th - 451,353,984 - [H]ardOCP

===========================================================================

1/25/2024 Day 2 results below. I'll work on better presentation as we go but here are the raw numbers for now.

939,755,491,996 - EVGA
464,185,498,271 - Overclockers.com
292,619,618,652 - [H]ardOCP
292,832,286,751 - TAAT
103,233,794,538 - ExtremeHW

I'll start a spreadsheet and get actual point differences. It the difference from the starting total to the finishing total that marks our progress. I'll be back with that soon.

=============================================================================

1/24/2024 Official results here. (Note: The official thread @ [H] has links to encourage trash talk. Just a reminder, these teams are our adversaries not our enemy's. Speak to them like your best friend... no strike that. Speak to them like friends that you sort of know and like. In other words, have fun but be nice. This should be fun for all.) [We still want to win. They are our adversaries after all.]

Officially 0.25 days in and we are in the lead. Not by a ton. TAAT (AnandTech) is not far behind. If you have more in reserve, get it ready. We only just started and "in the lead" does not mean "winning". We don't know what issues the other teams may have. Some have posted that they have other challenges for other compute projects interfering. Once they straighten all that out, we could get hurt.

Great start! Push on my friends. Push on.

=================================================================
1/24/2024 Started this morning @ 7 AM Eastern.
Here are the total points for each team to start with.

939,087,115,166 - EVGA
463,180,335,138 - Overclockers.com
292,168,264,668 - [H]ardOCP
291,633,849,842 - TAAT (AnadTech)
102,546,677,198 - ExtremeHW

The order above does not reflect who is winning. No one is winning. This is the starting point. Unless I'm goofing it up, this is the point from which we start counting. It is a race to see who earns the most from this point. I'm still not 100% sure I got this right so I reserve the right to change this when/if I learn better.

If you're not in yet, get in. We are in a strugle to win this thing and so are they. Happy folding.

Note: I will add to this post at least daily. Feel free to post below but the race updates will be in this post.

Hi Guys, literally a yes no answer is all that's required. Is CPU folding still worth it? I wasn't doing it before the race, started doing it for the race and it actually seemed to reduce my ppd. I did leave one core free to drive the GPU. Maybe someone can refer me to a relevant thread as I'm sure this has been discussed before, maybe a link?

Because I'm competitive by nature, I'd noticed a few relatively large producers for OC drop off to zero just before or just after the start of the competition. Going elsewhere perhaps?

Will be interesting to see if they start back up afterwards.

On a side note, while I've been aware of this for many years, what I've never heard is whether anything has come from a direct result of any distributed computing effort. Perhaps someone could shed some light on that?
