iptables is where it has been for a long time, ever since 2.4 came out, for firewalling on Linux.

Before that it was ipchains.

Before that it was ipfwadm, which I understand was similar to ipfw.

sorry, i meant the way my little project was going. Not linux security.

The project is going a little slower. hopefully i can get the thing to masquerade packets tonight. after that I can drop the rules in there and i can start working on my samba server next week
