Hello all once again! I'm looking to build a cheap build for my bro and sis in law all they want to do is surf the web,burn dvd's pretty much the average joe PC..

At that price point, unless they're gonna be ok using Linux, the OS ends up costing something like 33%+ of the total build cost and you're better off just getting a cheap Dell. If you just want a grandma machine, that's the way to go.

Only downside is 90 day warranty and possibly sketchy support. Dell has a machine for $249 that would be plenty for browsing and whatnot.

what about this combo that just came out? I know it doesn't come with no OS, but I rather get win7 anyway plus I still have my old copy of vista I can give to them.

I have a Dell Studio Hybrid refurb that works great for this stuff. It is my current HTPC but has all the features I need.
