I can't fingure out what to do here. I'm on an almost brand new install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Just swapped motherboards a few days ago so I did a fresh install. Everything else in the system is working just fine but Firefox crashes constantly. Sometimes it'll crash immidiately upon opening. Sometimes it'll wait 5 minutes, sometime 30 minutes. Sometimes it'll crash every 20 seconds.

I haven't noticed it only happening on certain sites. Sometimes it'll happen on OCF, sometimes flash enabled sites, sometimes gmail. So it doesn't seem to be limited to a certain coding content.

I've tried uninstalling Firefox, deleting the profile, uninstalling Flash and java. And then reinstalling. Still get the same problem upon reinstallation.

I'm only using 4 addon's:

Adblock Plus
Downthemall
XMarks
Autopager

I've tried disabling them all. I've tried disabling one at a time. Even without them installed (After a fresh install) it will still crash.

This is the only program I've having issues, all others are working fine. My overclock is Prime stable. I'm out of ideas besides the possibility of another Format/Reinstall.

I'm sure I had that once. I couldn't fix it with anything neither and I didn't use any add-ons manually, so I think that hasn't got to do with it. Could be, but don't think so. I was never able to fix it so I just formatted which did fix it.

I assume you don't want that though. Sorry that I can't help you.

I have it running on 3 other computers in the house just fine, so it's definitely just this machine.

My wife just reminded me that my 17 year old brother and his friends were playing on my computer the other day. They played a joke on me by putting a male porn picture in a folder on my desktop. So I have a feeling that picture came off of a site that also brought a virus.

Frickin' kids. :)

Running a full Kaspersky scan now, but it's already chcked my System drive and didn't show anything. So I have a feeling it won't do any good. Guess I may be formatting today.

does it crash if you run firefox in safe mode?

Actually I didn't think of trying that.

But what will it mean if it DOES run in safemode? I can't run it that way all the time, right?

if safemode works i would think that some other program/addin/tempfiles/malware is causing the issue.

I would also give malwarebytes a run.

So I have NO idea what could have been causing my problem. I can only guess it was somehow a bookmark or something

I formatted and reinstalled and fired up FF and STILL had this problem. It was so frequent and without ANY certain triggers that I could tell.

I just couldn't deal with it anymore so I've installed Chrome. I was quite pleased to see that Chrome now has extensions just like Firefox, and actually has all of the extensions that I normally used in firefox!

And to top it off, it's SOO much faster than firefox. FF used to be a nice, fast little browser, but it seems like they've bloated it up a bit in the last several releases.

Chrome has all the functionality and extensions, and great speed to boot. Like very noticeable speed.

My only issue is this:

Capture.jpg

Only a single tab open in Chrome (After having used it for a while tonight) and I notice that I have several instances in taskman and they're using up about 325MB!!

What's going on here?!? It's a good thing I have 8GB in this system :)

BTW...with the firefox thing, I found some issues on the internets with people having similar problems as myself. They were told that 3.62 was supposed to fix it. Well I saw that 3.63 was recently released and I gave that one a try, hoping that Mozilla had actually found and corrected whatever this problem is, which seems to only be affecting a few people. Heck I have 3 other computers in my house, all with similar extensions and system settings, and none of them are having this problem. (SRSLY)

Unfortunately for Mozilla, I've discovered that Chrome gives me the same usability, with extensions etc, but having the speed which Firefox has long since lost.

I was having this issue for a while, I think it's the build and only with some people. try getting 3.6.3 beta, since installing that I haven't had the problems
