I made a heatsink for the chipset out of a stock P3 hsf. This unit has a fan with a sence lead so I pluged it into the cpu header problem solved.
Plug in a temporary fan to get yourself booted and update to the latet bios. Abit must have got some complaints on this because it is now off by default unless you enable it.
The first time out, with a new bios, it will still be enabled, so you need something in the fan1 header. After that, you can go into the later bios revisions (>=WZ) and disable it. They're just rying to help you not fry your CPU by running it without an HSF.
