is it better to have case fans blowing cool air into the case or extracting warm air from it. any thoughts would be welcomed.

I don't know, no matter what I do I can't get my system temp to cool so I just left the cover off, works fine but it's kinda loud with the delta.

You need a nice airflow in the case . Blow the air in with fan/fans and make sure the hot air gets out with or without fans. You have a fan (that sucks the hot air out) in the Psu but that is not enough. You need more fans or at least holes to get it out.
