Sort of an off the wall topic, but I'm looking for some very close-up images of actual CPU (or similar) cores for a school project. For example, I found these on google:

http://users.moscow.com/sunnyd/proc/dct.gif
http://users.moscow.com/sunnyd/proc/idct.gif
http://users.moscow.com/sunnyd/proc/P4diemag.jpg

Which are kind of what I'm looking for, only more detailed and preferably larger. I looked around sites like Intels, but didn't find anything that would work.

Any ideas where to look would be great :)

Thx,
SteveJ

Those picks you have arn't bad. If you want more, and some explination of what parts of the core are what, I would recommend toms hardware guide:

http://www.tomshardware.com/

Just look through what they have on processors, you can find picrures of the cores as you would actually see them and as internal diatrams.

heres a shot of an old 286-6Mhz I had laying around. I cut the bottom plate off it years ago, and it revealed the core and the connecting wires. still pretty cool IMO. just think though, the core on a P4 is about half that size with about 10x the transistors (maybe more)
286
286-1

It's a big picture too, 2048x1536.

Dang, thats pretty highres! I think that current processor images wont be open to the public beacouse rivals could copy design :X

thanks! The pics were taken with a Minolta DiMage Z1 in Macro mode. The lighting is actually from my monitor with the brightness turned all the way up :p
