Dozy's Test Build

This is my test build to see how well or bad it will work before I fork out 400 euro or so for an alright PC. I also am doing this to see how much I can save and how much use it will be. I hope that members here read this post and give me suggestions

Brief history on how it got started:
This started when my mum got a new desk and PC. She gave me her old desk and PC. It was poop, had no GFX card slot. 160G IDE HDD, and one RAM stick with DDR1 512MB. This thing was new when windows XP was new. It was slow as hell and nothing I could do would speed this thing up. I then decided to scrap all of this and using the case and power supply I got for free to build a PC able to game modern games for a cost of nothing or as close to nothing. (The zero euro thing went out the window a few days ago)

Well I was looking into my first problem witch was cooling. This was a stock Case and was not designed to take something that was high performance.

In the mean time I got given an old motherboard+CPU+4 1G ram sticks and a power supply

I was thinking about buying fans and cutting them into the case when a Friend of mine said to me. "Just remove the case" and he was right. It is pointless for me to pay for fan's to make the inside of the case as cool as the room. All I have to do is remove the case and it will always be as cool as the room. So I got it down to this (despite what image says its not how it looks now)

The issue with this is that dust can easily get in and because the bulk of the case and power supply wire length keeps getting in the way so it had to stay flat on the ground, this was not going to work. I then spoke to the same friend of mine again about the issue and he told me that his motherboard is mounted to his desk. So I put some taught into it, bought the necessary stuff and used an angel grinder.

I then re-looked at what I was doing and came to the conclusion that using 2 power supply's is just going to be a pain in the whole and I was running out of plug sockets.

So I went onto Adverts.ie and found a 750W power supply hardly ever used for 35 euro. Bought it and its working perfect and looks like new. The guy said he payed 70 for it but because it did not have enough wires(something like that) it was probably only used for less than an hour.

I currently have this(image was taken a few sec's ago)

A desk is going to be put resting on top of where that plank of wood is sticking out.

Anyone have any recommendations before I start overclocking? Also I have 2 graphic cards but I think the actual GFX port on this motherboard is dead but I'm yet to test those cards in other PC's, I was assured when given them that they worked grand but I cannot get them to display anything.

Mind posting the model number of the power supply? Something we stress on this website is to always have an extremely high quality PSU, as a bad one can possibly kill everything in your computer.

As you never got back to me I'll assume that power supply is ok. I do plan on upgrading everything except for the power supply. I would like suggestions on what to get. Currently I am thinking:

I am in Ireland so you will be seeing quite frequently rip off prices for anything PC related...

Looks like you're building this system in your closet. I think that's really cool and inovative. Like it! You could be starting a trend.

ha ha it was a closet ^_^

I doubt others would follow my example as I am still learning what I'm doing. The fact that its even still on the wall and running I'm happy with rofl
