My Sabertooth 990FX will not boot, no screen at all. Black, dead to the world on video. CTRL + ALT + DEL will restart system while it is running and without the video. I am give a 'system' check short beep to confirm the system is working however the 'boot device' LED stays on. It was working perfectly fine and shut down correctly on 6/21/2012.
I'm currently also looking for a replacement in this forum:
http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=710606

Until then I would like to boot my system at least.
Code:
I have tried to Reset CMOS correctly.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate.
HDD Works 100%.
Sometimes booted after this problem after trying all steps repeatedly.
All components except MoBo work.
Monitor works.
HDMI output wont work either.
Followed mem test directions.
Replaced battery.
Bios was the latest, Version 1208, 2012

Here is what I have currently:

Could it be your hard disk? That is the primary boot device, you know and you said that's what the error code turned up.

Also, make sure you don't have any USB devices plugged in that the bios may be trying to boot off of, even a printer with a card reader qualifies.

Finally, try resetting the CMOS.

I reset CMOS.
I have tried the hard disk in every slot and removed it, in a stat external it works fine.

I'll recheck my mobo, but everything is taken out that I can.

If your sure that the components work on there own, then It comes down to trying a few things.

1-Make sure the memory slots are clean, check them for debree, possibly run a credit card briefly through the contact area to flick out anything that might be prevent contact.

2- Make sure the slot in question for video is not the cuplrit by using another slot.

3- check the cpu on another machine, if thats not possible try reseating the chip.

4- If the chip previously was overclocked to a decent level and then started failing at boot, its also possible the bios never cleared all the way or has become corrupted. This isn't uncommon with some of the amd setups out there. Pull the battery let it sit 15-20m then try again. Some bioses dont clear right away, or remain partial memory setup after a quick reset.

BIOS didt not clear at all, I think the BIOS chip is fried, has anyone ran int othis problem before at all?

I think the ACHI setting caused this, fair warning.

Figured it out.....maybe....XFX mighta died!?

Highly doubtful that AHCI caused this. Its not uncommon at all the corrupt a bios if your overclock settings are unstable. Its part of the reason that the more serious ones of us that push to the extreme levels, will run boards with dual bioses.

I think that board has a biosflash back by usb option, that will allow the reprogramming of the bios without having to have a full sucessful boot into the bios. If thats the case you can download the bios on another computer. Put it on a USB flash drive, and follow there directions to reflash the bios.

I'm going to try a throw away CPU see if it works, eh. I'm hopefully doubtful.

having shot myself in the foot a time or two and had issues like this. UNPLUG THE POWER CORD FROM THE WALL FIRST!!!!
#1, please make sure your hard drive sata cable is plugged into the sata 6 ports on the motherboard (brown in color). please do not use the black sata ports.
#2, try another sata cable in another port, your board came with 4 i think, yes my manual says 4.
#3, if the psu is modular, remove and reinstall the sata power cable, looking real close to make sure that the terminals are all deep in place in the connector.
#4, if you use a sata power adaptor at the disk drive end, remove and reinstall this connector and look real close to be sure that all 4 tremials are seated deeply in the connector.
