Hi,

I am looking to get a 2nd 24" monitor to go alongside my fell U2410 IPS panel.
(ignore the graphics card in my sig, I am likely to replace this with the pascal equivalent of the 980 when it is available much later in the year).

This will be used for a variety of tasks including (but not exclusively):

Gaming (not hardcore gaming for hours though - type of game varies greatly)
Working on many different server terminals
Word processing
Internet browsing
Watching TV/films
(I also use Nvidia gamestream to my nvidia shield - which I believe is linked to the max resolution of my monitor) - so when I upgrade my TV to be 4k I would like to be able to gamestream 4k

I would like 24" purely because it will sit nicely next to my current monitor (I think 27"/28" could look odd)

Also I believe I will need an IPS panel (but correct me if I am wrong) as it is next to an IPS panel, I presume a TN panel would look odd.

(other features which would be awesome, but I think are too expensive or need a larger screen size are g-sync and a high refresh rate)
Max budget is ~£500

Currently I am looking at

or

in an ideal world I would afford (and have space) for:

Closer to budget but isnt an IPS panel is:

Any thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated

Any reason you are not getting a matching monitor? That, to me, would look the best...

Can you gamestream at such high resolutions? That is A LOT of bandwidth that is needed to be piped through...

Mainly as it is currently a 5 year old monitor, monitor technology has changed quite a bit over the past few years, so I would quite like an upgrade.

Currently I have it all over wired gigabit and I know 4k gamestream is in the pipeline for Nvidia. Also compressions like H265 will likely help with that kind of thing, the biggest issue with game streaming is latency over bandwidth currently (afaik)

I am mainly after opinions on

TN vs IPS
G-sync
high refresh rate
Higher resolutions
i.e the difference between a £100 and a £1000 monitor. Whioch features do I care about and which I should ignore.

If you want an upgrade and don't mind non matching monitors, i would get at least a 2k IPS 60Hz non gsync display. FPS, driving and those types of games will benefit from the high refresh rate and gsync, but everything else will benefit from the higher resolution. I would also rotate the 24" vertically so you could read documents as full pages.

Im not quite as overboard with monitors as some around here. I do have more than I need at the moment, but my choice would almost always be higher resolution.
