You will get much better results with the EP45-UD3R, I have same CPU as yours with same batch, I can get 4ghz with 1.23v [under load]

I have a nice, stable 3.82 ghz at stock volts , memory at 4-4-4-12 :burn:

Temps are a bit high so I'll be reseating the heatsink -

man I don't know how you guys have such great temps. whats your idle temp for that chip at 3.8?

hi,

finally, after three months of waiting for my RMA motherboard ( old P5Q-PRO mem slots died) I finally got it yesterday. But it is the slightly better P5Q-Pro-TUrbo :D.. Problem is i couldnt find my tube of thermal paste so i'm waiting for the local pc shop to open to get a new tube. I know i could hit 4ghz stable with 1.37500 vcore with the old board, and im very excited what will be the result with this new turbo board... I'm hoping i might hit the 4ghz with a lot less vcore because my temps with the mugen 2 were like 70+ on fully load.... I'll start oc'ing in the afternoon and ill keep track of my progressions in oc'ing :D ...
Do u have a c1 or an E0 cpu???

grtz

UPDATE banana.gif

I have my Q9550 running at a very stable 4.0 Ghz now.

What was holding me back was my cooling, so upgrading to a Prolimatech Megahalems Rev. B Heatpipe CPU Cooler solved my temp problems -

Did you mean 0.67 for your CPU and MCH reference? That's the normal default afaik. 0.76 is quite high, with a termination/Vtt of 1.2 it gives 0.912 as the signal reference voltage.

That's what was displayed in Auto - I'll go check it again.

My Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 mobo set those voltage to 0.760 volts in Auto.

You're right, I checked on my UD3P and 0.760 'volts' is the reference, although I'm pretty sure that if it's anything like other P45s it's a GTL reference voltage multiplier and not a voltage per se. I never really tried oc'ing that mobo, it's in my server box, so I hadn't noticed nor tried to tweak it. Interestingly it uses 700mV for the 'CPU Clock Drive' in Advanced Clock Control submenu, *edit - wait yours defaults to 800mV or did you set that? Mine is a dual core and defaults to 700mV most other P45s use an 800mV 'CPU Clock Drive' and a 0.67 reference with default 1.2 Vtt: 0.67x1.2=.804 or 800mV so you can see how those settings go together. 0.76x1.2=.912  *edit - maybe the PCIe Clock Drive of 900mV is what goes with that? But that would be different from all other boards where the CPU Clock Drive goes with reference*Vtt ...so I'm not sure how that all works out well but obviously we know the board is a great clocker.

no, those are default voltages.

The only voltages tjat I changed were the Vcore and Ram -

Just getting all nerd-curious here really :D Having gone through tweaking GTL ref's and Vtt etc on my quad recently it's interesting to see different setups and maybe learn something else.

Have you run EasyTune in Windows to double check those voltages? I wonder if on 'auto' the BIOS displays the default setting but not the actual number that gets set by 'auto.'

At his settings Vtt is 1.5v and GTL 0.76 (as per EasyTune)...I have the same board and my settings are about the same except my v-core is lower.

Lol must be nice to have that many things 'auto' which you can then fine tune...darn DFI (love-hate really :p) But isn't that pretty high and possibly dangerous (longer-term not 1337 benching) for Vtt? And his reference target is 1.14 instead of spec'd .804? Maybe I'm misunderstanding GTLs again..thought I had em figured after this weekend though when I went and really tweaked mine.)
